Friday practice was a little hit and miss for the number 77 Bob Jane T Mart Porsche only managing P5 in both sessions. Qualifying on Saturday morning was a little better with P4 for the start of Race 1 later that morning. “I was pretty disappointed with qualy, I struggled with two very important components of Queensland Raceway in sector 1 and couldn’t get the job done.” Said Max
Friday practice showed a solid pace with a P1 and P3 in the two sessions. Max said “The car had good balance on used tyres and should be quick on greens” Saturday morning qualifying went very well setting the fastest lap of qualy late in the session with under race lap record time at 1:30.6677 , 0.3230 clear pf the rest of the field.
With a perfect start on Friday topping the practice time sheets by 0.1786 sec in the hour long session with multiple tyre and setup changes in the morning. Max then qualified on pole by 0.3946 seconds by the end of the session. Max banked the fastest time early in the session on his first set of qually tyres 1.30.386 seconds only to set an even quicker time 1.30.2281 seconds on the second set late in the shortened session.
It was a great weekend for Max Vidau and the Sonic Motor Racing Services GT3 Cup Challenge team after Max took three victories from three race starts in the No. 77 Bob Jane T-Marts GT3 Porsche.
Although being new to Symmons Plains International Raceway, Max got off to a flying start during the first practice session and was at the pointy end of the time sheets in both sessions. A minor hiccup in Practice 2 saw Max only complete 6 laps before a damaged wheel nut saw the total loss of a rim and tyre while Max was on a flying lap. Luckily he was quick to react and quickly got the car under control and to avoid any real damage. The team quickly checked the car over but missed out on the rest of the session.
Together with Sonic Motor Racing Services we are proud to announce our 2019 Bob Jane T-Marts Porsche Michelin GT3 Cup Challenge Australia driver.
